shots from the weekend

Jono snapped this spectacular shot of William watching the driveway for our family visitors. The lucerne was cut during the week, and this is just before it was baled. Nobody knows how that rogue group of sheep got in ;) I know I've just done a new header...but I think I'll have to change it to this soon! it goes so well with the title of my blog, don't you think??? {edit - there. i changed it}

I like this one of us. think it will be our new skype profile.

here is Grandma with all her grandchildren...

and a few random shots from the weekend.

the deal with my name.

many of you who know me, either through blogging or in real life, probably have realised that I am using a different name. there is a reason for this and so here it is.

names are important and have meaning attached to them in most cultures around the world. in the west it is less so than elsewhere, but still significant to a certain extent.

the meaning and significance of my birth name is something I am no longer comfortable with. so Jono and I picked a new name for me. Simple as that. those that know me by my birth name, and know the journey I am on ... well, you guys will most likely understand this.

channi is a shortened form of chana...or hannah...and it's pronounced with a 'h'.

just thought some of you might like to know :)

Day Trip

So went for a little day trip to Canberra yesterday. It was one of our first longish trips in the new car and it was luxurious compared to the Rangie! It's so nice to be able to have a normal conversation instead of yelling to each other over the roar of the engine. lol.

We stopped off at Murrumbateman, our traditional 'wee' stop...

and then hit the big smoke of Canberra!

not a great shot, but the fountain on Lake Burley Griffin was going full force :)

We went to the Jewish centre to introduce ourselves and pick up a few things. It was so lovely being there! It's the closest synagogue to us and it's 2 1/2 hours away. We're hoping we might get over there once a month or so.

Then we had a coffee and some lunch down on the lake. We skimmed stones and feed a local resident :)

finally we went and had a delicious dinner with our wonderful friends. Next time we see Pieter and Michelle they will be in their new place out on land like us :)

twas a good day.

Some reading, some listening, some doing

Bridget read this. I thought it would be okay because of it's historical context (I love the Minoans!). She's listening to it on a playaway from the library too.

Jonah finished reading Robin Hood, and is now onto the secret 7 series, and loving it :)

both the boys are listening to this on a playaway. I thought it would be boring for them, but they are both enjoying it. It's got a lot of geography in it which they both like. Actually, I think they just like to listen to something with headphones in their ears...so I'll see if I can find more of these ;)

Today the boys are playing Korean war (after watching Australian's at War last night). Jonah is planning to find out more about the Chinese army, and what it is like in China now.

Twins, a boy and a girl. They are identical, and classically toggie. We named the girl Eli.

I so love that my children's lives are full of chickens, kittens and new baby goats. and that they get to see them being born :)

Shabbat Shalom

"Life is like a mirror.  The people you see reflect back to you the way you present yourself.  If you look happy, they will respond buoyantly.  If you look upset, they will be cautious or concerned.  If you want a joyous life try to be happy around others.  It will make it easier on them and more enjoyable for you.  Remember, everyone causes happiness ... some when they come, some when they leave." ~ Shabbat Shalom Weekly
